As an Estimator, you’ll be in charge of pricing, budgets, and cost control. You’ll be a key player in developing accurate budgets, and supplying pricing to the sales team. You won’t be responsible for on-site construction management, but you’ll collaborate with the field team and vendors to stay up-to-date. In this role, you will support the Finance Director in pre-construction estimating, budget monitoring, and the bill approval process.

What Winning Looks Like

  • Calculates the base price and all common upgrades, and makes them readily available to the design team.
  • Ensures all trade contracts are kept accurate and up-to-date, and the trades are held accountable through bill approvals.
  • Creates budgets and maintains cost-to-completes on all projects.
  • Researches and compiles accurate pricing on custom design elements for sales/design team members.

Skills Needed to Win

  • Strong understanding of residential construction, including common building materials and trades.
  • Experience with estimating software and project management tools (BuilderTrend preferred).
  • Familiarity with square-foot pricing and adjusting for options and add-ons.
  • Ability to interpret plans, specs, and scope of work to generate accurate cost estimates.
  • Strong communication skills to coordinate with superintendents, subcontractors, and the finance team.
  • Attention to detail, especially in verifying quantities and rates.
  • Comfortable using spreadsheet tools (Excel or Google Sheets).
  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to adapt to design or scope changes.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or 5+ years of estimating experience.
